Propane Generators vs. Gasoline Generators

To begin with lets examine that fact that propane emits less fumes when combusted. The atmospheric emissions are higher with unleaded gasoline than with a propane generator. Remember that propane still puts carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as it is burned. The amount is less than it would be if you used gasoline, and this is why it is less dangerous to the environment. It is still necessary for us to practice moderation and look for better long term solutions, but it is a start.

Propane is in a liquid form while it is dormant in a steel bottle such as that for a BBQ. When you open the handle to release the propane from the container it evaporates off of the liquid in the tank. This can result in the outside of the bottle getting very cold and frosting up. Heat is required to allow the propane to fume out of the bottle. Known for their easy storage and long shelf life, propane cylinders can be filled at service stations everywhere. Alternatively, small bottles can be traded in where there is such a program.

An electrician and a gas fitter could permanently install a propane generator in most homes as a backup electrical supply. Since so many residences use propane to run the furnace and water heater, they already have a large tank of propane on the premises. In this case a propane generator can provide electricity on demand and can be set up to run over a number of days using this household supply tank.

If you had a propane generator of large enough size, it would match the electrical needs of the entire household as a standby generator. Then you would be covered in case there is an electrical system shutdown. Meanwhile your house would still be able to use the propane to maintain furnace and hot water tank operation. Doesn’t that sound like a good situation for a rural residence?

Camping is a good use for portable propane generator, for complementing an RV or campsite. Propane generators can also be used to get electricity to remote areas for construction tools such as air compressors and wood working saws, etc. And for a limited emergency standby generator for your home nothing beats the portable propane generator.

So when you are shopping for a generator of either portable or permanent type, consider the propane generator. The environment will thank you for it.

If you are looking for replacement parts there are a few options open to you.

You can go to official Honda dealerships that will have parts for your generator or certainly know where to source them for you. More than likely you will visit a hardware store or a shop that specializes in generators or power tools and utilities. By getting your replacement parts from a store  or dealership you will receive some customer support from a salesperson. This is helpful if you really don’t know much about your Honda generator. In some cases the generator may have stopped working and you need a diagnosis of the problem before you can start to think about what kind of parts to buy.

However, if you know what is wrong with your generator or are just getting some parts that you feel need replacing before they break, then a better option might be the internet.

Honda generator parts can be found on the internet. The internet has an advantage over the others in that you are sure to find what you are looking for. You basically have the world at your finger tips and are sure to find what you are looking for. There is also a good chance that you will get those parts at a fair discount over a physical shop or dealership.

The one downside of buying parts over the internet is that you have to know what you want and what you are looking at. For instance, you want a brand new part in most cases. To that extent you can trust that the part will work and all you have to do is confirm the trustworthiness of the source you are buying from. In some cases where the replacement part is quite unusual or rare you may have to go for a used part. If this is the case you need to know a bit about the part to gage it’s condition and suitability for your generator.

Ebay and other auction sites are good ways of finding parts at good prices on the internet. You are pretty much assured that you will get a good price on Ebay for Honda generator parts and you will also get a good idea of what other people are prepared to pay if you follow a few items before you make a purchase.

The reason why it is not hard to find Honda generator parts is because of the immense popularity of Honda generators which means that the market for its parts is quite significant and so there are a corresponding number of authorized dealers having huge inventory of parts.
